Today I am writing about a new book – multitasking again – called Happy yoga, by Steven Ross!
This book is not rocket science, and maybe because of that, reading it is a very enjoyable experience! Basically, Steven Ross says we have nothing to worry about because all of us are inherently happy! Our true happy self has been concealed over the years by layers of worry that, in time, trough habit, become daily thoughts and, hence, become who we are!
The book is divided in seven chapters:
1) you can’t get happy (you can only be happy)
2) You can have true love
3) You are not fat (and neither am I)
4) You are not your daily grind (precisely who do you think you are?)
5) You can change the world
6) You were never born and you will never die
7) To the yogi, everything is bliss
According with Ross, each chapter deals with one of our biggest fears, and he offers us solutions to deal with these fears using yoga wisdom. He talks about meditation, yoga postures, diet, music….It is really good! It offers explanations, solutions and yoga practice to help you shedding this layer away!
For me, this is one of those books I keep coming to! I have read it once, but I find myself coming back to it, from time to time…
In chapter 4, when Ross talks about identity, he talks about how we are not our history, our relatives, our jobs, our house, our spouse, our possessions, our hobbies…how we are just freedom! It doesn´t get much better that this, don’t you think?
How many times do we get trapped in these concepts and think of them as who we are?
Another thing he talks about is about living with no expectations, working without schemes, not expecting any reward from your actions… I don’t know about you guys, but for me I am a million years away from this! That’s OK, as long as you keep walking the path, right?
